Job Purpose

GOAL has a unique opportunity for a Senior HR Advisor with a strong background in UK and International HRM to join a global team of committed and talented HR colleagues delivering services in Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Latin America.;Based in the UK, you will play an integral part in driving key People initiatives, at both operational and strategic levels. The role will allocate 20% to HR services for a small team of committed humanitarian professional in the UK, and 80% to supporting GOAL’s HR and Regional Management teams through the provision of expert HR advice, guidance, coaching, and project management of key improvement initiatives.

You will be part of an innovative People and Organisation Development team shaped by their shared commitment to Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging and who are passionate about delivering impactful HR services and programmes in support of GOAL’s humanitarian mission.

You will have demonstrable expertise in at least three of the following areas:

  • Employee Relations, including capability, disciplinary and grievance
  • Workforce planning (incl. succession planning and secondment management)
  • Staff Care and Wellbeing (ideally in high-risk environments)
  • Total Rewards management and review (ideally incl. project experience in payscale design)
  • Performance Management and Development processes
  • HR Systems and Data Analytics

We are keen to hear form those with experience of employee relations throughout the employee lifecycle, an excellent knowledge of UK employment law; disciplinary and grievance processes; HR compliance management, and HRIS management. You will be able to create strong working relationships with senior stakeholders and provide consistent HR advice.

(The role is based remotely in the UK with occasional travel to Dublin and GOAL's country of operations)

Key Areas of Responsibility:;;

UK Operations;

  • Provide day-to-day HR support to GOAL UK team across the employee lifecycle,
  • Manage full spectrum of employee relations matters for GOAL UK, including welfare, capability, disciplinary and grievance
  • Provide employment law advice and guidance to GOAL UK operations by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and custom and practices, and update policies and procedures accordingly
  • Support the implementation and management of GOAL UK’s rewards framework
  • Support the Head of HR Operations in driving continuous improvement in the team

International Operations;

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for allocated country programmes, providing guidance on HR policies and practices.
  • Support individual country programme change processes with appropriate HR techniques so that changes are smooth and embedded effectively
  • Support the roll-out of GOAL's Performance Grothe Framework, Grow with GOAL, assessing the effectiveness of the system at country level in collaboration with L&OD team
  • Lead on allocated country compensation review projects to ensure a consistent and equitable approach to job evaluations and salary setting is maintained
  • Maintain (and develop where necessary) a comprehensive range of HR policies that are aligned with GOAL's values and strategic priorities, and are kept up to date in line with current legal guidance and best practice
  • Coordinate with local HR teams to ensure alignment of global HR strategy with local practices, ensuring legal compliance and cultural sensitivity.
  • Manage expatriate assignments, including relocation, visa processes and onboarding
  • Monitor and report on key HR metrics, providing insights and recommendations to management
  • Work with the Global Head of Talent, Learning and Inclusion on the development and implementation of HR initiatives that promote diversity, equity and inclusion across all locations.
  • Manage allocated international HR projects

;Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience in implementing HR policies within a dynamic environment
  • Extensive experience of managing the full spectrum of employee relations matters, including capability, disciplinary and grievance
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law
  • Experience of working in an international NGO including an understanding of differences in HR practice in the international context.
  • Experience of working with international country offices and overseas employment laws
  • Experience in the operations of a HR Information System
  • Excellent knowledge of contemporary Human Resources practices and employment legislation.;
  • Proven experience of working on complex employee relations matters;;
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in handling personal, sensitive information
  • Client centric with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Mange workload in a remote work arrangement. Able to maintain operational consistency with other team members and actively keep management informed.
  • Fluency in English is essential, fluent Arabic or French is a distinct advantage
